The public was impressed so that nicknamed the program Star Wars instead of its dull and long official name Strategic Defense Initiative (SDI). The films by George Lucas were very popular in the West at that time. He issued the third episode of his famous science-fiction movie in the same year. The terms and characters from the film became a part of spoken language, even the one of politics.
