In his youth, Kotzebue circumnavigated the world together with a fellow German, Krusenstern, then did it twice on his own. And very successfully indeed: while circumnavigating the world, Otto von Kotzebue discovered three hundred and ninety-nine islands. He left behind several books describing his travels, the gulf of the Chukchi Sea off the western coast of Alaska, and a town on the shore of this bay. And a street in his hometown of Tallinn.
