On July 8, 2021, there was an online meeting between the Russian Academy of Sciences and Huawei Russian Research Institute. The Russian Academy of Sciences (RAS) was represented by Alexander Mikhailovich Sergeev, RAS President and Member, Yuri Yurievich Balega, RAS Vice President and Member, and employees of the RAS International Cooperation Department. The Huawei delegation consisted of the President of the Institute of Strategic Research and the Huawei Russian Research Institute Zhou Hong, and representatives of various departments of Huawei research institutes and centers.
During the course of their presentations, Huawei representatives spoke of cooperation of Russian scientific organizations and universities with Chinese partners in various branches of science, including physics, chemistry, mathematics, and data analysis, and cooperation on artificial intelligence issues.
The Huawei representatives invited the Russian Academy of Science to become a coordinator of the company's Russian research institute in new areas of research. For the benefit of further cooperation, the parties have agreed to look into the possibility of signing a Memorandum of Understanding and Cooperation, and holding joint international scientific events.
