He was born in Vienna and would spend hours watching animals. The interests of infant age grew into future profession. Having studied medicine for some time, Frisch finally chose ethology, the science studying the behavior of animals. He was carried away by bees, and tried to solve the mystery of their communication. Finally, he succeeded: it turned out that bees pass along information by way of dancing. Examining the drawing of this dance one can learn everything: where the nectar is located as relating to the sun, whether it is far or near. It was back in 1912 that Karl Frisch started making experiments involving bees. 60 years later, his work was crowned with Nobel Prize in the field of physiology and medicine awarded for discoveries associated with creation and establishment of individual and group models of animals’ behavior.
