“The Russian fate depends on the fate of the Russian science” is a statement both scientists and politicians find themselves on board with. However, the revival of the Russian science still stirs up controversy. What pressing problems does science in general and the Academy of Sciences in particular face? How productive are the current relations between science and state? Is the funding a major tool to revive science? How can we bring young blood into the Russian science? How can we stop the brain drain? Does the Academy of Sciences need reforms?
