Всемирный день защиты прав потребителей

The crowds of ethnographers and anthropologists are still looking for those who could shrug this holiday off. Even the wildest yeti has tasted at least some comforts of civilization and therefore is a consumer. Speaking at the US Congress on March 15, 1962, John Kennedy proclaimed the principles of consumer rights that the Americans enjoy irrespective of their social status. According to Kennedy, the things offered by consumer market should be safe for life, health and property; the consumer enjoys the right for full and credible information about the goods and services, as well as the very choice instead of buying what is on the counter; the authorities must set the rules of behavior in the market on the basis of the consumers’ interests and needs. A bed of roses, in a word! In honor of this remarkable speech, the UN declared March 15 the World Consumer Rights Day.
