Abu al-Husayn Abd ar-Rahman as-Sufi created his catalogue of stars in 960. In his Book of Fixed Stars, he gives a detailed description of 48 constellations and 1017 stars. He is also the author of other scientific books, such as the Book of Astrolabe Uses, the Book of Celestial Globe Uses, An Introduction to the Science of Stars and their Predictions.
