American doctors have irrefutably proven an undeniable connection between smoking and lung cancer and cardiovascular diseases. It was United States Surgeon General Luther Terry who was the first to announce that smoking is dangerous for our health. But smokers were fearless. It took years of explanatory work to gradually put into stubborn heads the concept of the need for a healthy lifestyle. The best results, of course, were achieved by the employers who introduced economic sanctions against smokers: the concepts reach the heads faster when people's pockets are affected.
