В 1946 г. Уинстон Черчилль ввел в политический оборот фразу «Ноу коммент»

On that day, Churchill, not a prime minister already, yet still an influential politician, met US President Harry Truman. We do not know what they were talking about. While leaving the White House he was attacked by journalists and said: “No comment.” After that, he explained to the shocked reporters that this phrase was actually invented by American diplomat Samner Welles. Well, let us accept his word. Being a brilliant politician, orator and writer, Churchill always had something to say. So if he said “no comment,” there really were no comments. Unfortunately, modern politicians citing Churchill often hide the absence of ideas, not the ideas as such. Who exactly is guilty? No comment, ladies and gentlemen.
