В 1942 г. в немецком городе Пенемюнде испытали крылатую ракету

The FZG76 rocket was later called V1 following the first letter of the word “Vergeltungswaffe” which means “retaliation weapon” in German. But retaliation never happened. Even though V1 and later V2 rockets that were constructed under the guidance of Wernher von Braun, the father of German rocket production, were used against Great Britain, they did not make any decisive effect on the course of the war. Von Braun was taken to the USA by victorious Americans and now he is rightfully referred to as the father of the US rocket production.
