American lexicographer Noah Webster was prepossessed by an idea saying that any country needs its own books for real independence. He was working over the American dictionary of English language for twenty years and finally the two volumes of it came out on April 14, 1828. The dictionary was a big hit and has been much sought after up to the present day. Today, the book is published in millions of copies, while Webster has become a generic name, like Dal or Ozhegov in Russia.
