The famous Russian geographer, organizer of the first Russian census, author of the multivolume work Russia. Complete Geographical Description of Our Fatherland was in 1906 awarded probably the highest award in his life: he was allowed to add the part Tyan-Shansky [of Tian Shan] to his name. It sounds almost like Rumyantsev-Zadunaysky or Suvorov-Rymniksky. But this award was granted not for military victories, but for many years of scientific work. It is a pity that the tradition was interrupted, otherwise we would have had, for example, Korolev-Baikonursky or Kurchatov-Obninsky.
