On that day of 1492, Spanish Royal Couple promised financing for the expedition of Columbus to India. The agreement called capitulation according to tradition of that period was concluded at military camp Santa Fe near Granada recently seized by King Fernando’s army. Under this document, Columbus was to become an admiral, viceroy and ruler of all lands discovered by him, and own the tenth part of all revenues collected on these territories, but cover the eighth part of expedition’s costs. In case of failure, Columbus was to get nothing. The famous navigator managed to find a sponsor for the eighth part of costs, and the New World was discovered. Ingenious mistake of Columbus turned into a great geographical discovery.
