The contemporary flagship of Russian science was founded in exciting times: the Civil War was in full swing. And yet, Nikolay Yegorovich Zhukovsky, the “father of Russian aviation,” managed to obtain approval from the Soviet of National Economy. To name all the titans of Russia’s science and technology who worked for the TsAGI wouldn’t be easy. Nowadays, 60 wind tunnels and test benches allow the institute to remain the leading research institution and collaborate with more than 50 aerospace firms and research institutes.
