9 июля 1957 года сообщили о синтезе 102-го химического элемента

The scientists of the international group that worked in the Nobel Institute in Stockholm proposed to name it nobelium. However, for a long time, no one could repeat the process of its synthesis, so a sad joke appeared that the only thing left of nobelium was “no.” In the end, scientists from Berkeley and the Russian town of Dubna succeeded in its creation. Russian scientists proposed to name it joliotium, after French scientist Joliot-Curie, but the International Union of Pure and Applied Chemistry (IUPAC), responsible for standardization of names, decided to stick with the name nobelium.
