The International Atomic Energy Agency was created in order to promote international cooperation in the peaceful use of atomic energy. Its scope of activities includes international scientific forums to discuss the development of atomic energy, assistance to specialists in research work, and, what is important, the control of atomic energy in the world. The IAEA is concerned with safety and non-proliferation; a useful and influential organization in every way you look at it.
