He concentrated on designing weapons, and succeeded: the machine gun he had invented brought him luck, money and fame. Hiram Máxim and the machine gun named after his last name, were recognized all over the world. And in Russia, too – only here the stress in the word got misplaced and began to be called by a good Russian name Maxím.
