The French military frigate Isère entered New York Harbor with an escort of several ships. It was greeted by a cannon salvo and a crowd of New Yorkers. Not the frigate itself – but 214 boxes, which it delivered to New World. The boxes contained a monument by Frederic Auguste Bartholdi disassembled into 350 parts. For more than a year 46-meter frame designed by Alexander Gustave Eiffel himself mounted on a pedestal on Bedloe’s Island in New York harbor. If you think that Russia wasn’t involved, then you are wrong. Our homeland, as always, provided raw materials – 300 Nizhny Tagil copper plates were stuffed onto the frame. And then again, in the presence of a crowd of people the most famous lighthouse in the world (if one doesn’t take the Lighthouse of Alexandria into account, the Statue of Liberty was opened.
