17 августа 1945 года была провозглашена независимая республика Индонезия

The confirmation of this fact can still be seen on the national coat of arms of Indonesia. The mythical bird Garuda, which forms the basis of the coat of arms, has 17 feathers in each wing, 8 feathers in its tail and 45 feathers in its neck. You can’t mix it up! And there is also a fascinating fact regarding the other state symbol, the country’s flag. After Indonesia declared a banner of red and white its national flag, the government of Monaco filed a protest claiming the priority of its own red-and-white symbol, which was only slightly different in proportions. The protest, however, was rejected on the premise that the Indonesian flag had much older roots. And so the two countries have to share virtually identical flags.
