The colleagues of founding father of nuclear chemistry Glenn Seaborg would joke that the mail address of the scientist working at the Lawrence Laboratory, University of California, Berkeley, can be noted down using five chemical elements: berkelium, californium, americium, lawrencium and seaborgium. Glenn Theodore Seaborg discovered and synthesized a dozen of elements and saw one of them bearing his name in his lifetime. A for americium and curium, Seaborg and his employees synthesized them in 1944 at the Metallurgical Laboratory under the University of Chicago. The work was extremely hard, which was reflected in the initial names of elements – pandemonium and delirium are the Latin for inferno and delusion.
