The Olympic gold medalist in rowing and the pediatrician Benjamin Spock never aspired to become a great writer. However, his book became a best seller and was republished many times. It rivals The Guinness Book of Records and the Bible by the number of sold copies. Hardly surprising, as the number of Christians and inquisitive people out there is quite comparable to the number of mothers who want to raise a healthy child. Interestingly, the book lost its Common Sense part in the title in the Russian translation, which was titled simply The Baby and Child Care.
