In 1943, Hitler’s soldiers were still dreaming of assault operation. They planned a massive breakthrough at the center of the Eastern Front, at the Kursk Bulge. New tanks, the Tiger and the Panther. Hitler’s intentions were no secret for the Russian army, partly owing to massive intelligence service. During the Battle of Kursk, the Germans’ attack failed, and Soviet soldiers advanced to the west. The culmination of the Battle of Kursk was the greatest tank combat in history. In the field near Prokhorovka, thousands of tanks and self-propelled artillery platforms clashed. Very few of them escaped destruction. At that moment, the world understood that victory over Hitler was only a matter of time.
